ROBERT C. KINGSTON
GENERAL, US ARMY (RETIRED)
On Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Husband of the late Josephine R. Kingston; father of George R. Kingston of Atlanta, GA and Leslie M. Reiman and her husband, Larry Reiman of Alexandria, VA. Brother of John J. Kingston of Virginia Beach, VA. Also survived by two grandchildren, Roberta J. and Laura N. Reiman of Alexandria, VA. Friends may call at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA, where the family will be present on Thursday, March 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at Ft. Myer Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Special Forces Association, PO Box 41436, Fayetteville, NC 28309.

I had the good fortune to serve for and with General Kingston during his command of the 2nd ID in Korea 1979-1980 as his Signal Bn Commander.This was a tumultous time in Korea and no better Division Commander there could have been than General Kingston.Besides assuring combat training and readiness he dealt with flawless command leadership significant military/political issues of;the assassination of the Korean president,the rescue of soldiers that wandered into the DMZ's no mans land and the 1980 spring riots that threatened the stability of Korea.He would shed a tear when thinking that he might have to put his soldiers in harms way.My condolences and sympathies go to his family.

I was proud to call Bob Kingston my friend and comrad since serving together in ACSFOR in the Pentagon in 1967. He served his country with distiction both in peace and war. I learned of his passing in the March 11 edition of the San Diego Tribune. Although we lived many miles apart,I always remembered our time we served together and the times since. I salute Gen Kingston for his long dedicated service to this great nation that he helped preserve for so many years.

A salute to a great soldier. I had the honor of meeting General Kingston. He was an officer and a gentleman. I had the pleasure of serving in the US Army with his son-in-law Larry Reiman. Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the the whole family, especially to Leslie and Larry. May he rest in peace.
