ROBERT EDWIN NICHOLSON
Born in Alexandria, VA on December 30, 1958, a lifetime resident of Arlington, VA. He fought bravely for a year after a tragic fall, passed away in Hospice, May 22, 2020. Preceded in death by his mother, Mary, Rob will be missed by his loving father, Richard "Buddy"; sister, Laura; cousins, Carl and Amanda Ohlke; life-partner, Kathleen Ellis; beloved cats, Lex and Fritzi and many friends.Robert, a self-taught British car mechanic at Motorhead, was born with a talent to fix anything. He loved fishing, Summit Point, great seafood, family and friends and his two cats. Friend to animals, sophisticated ear for music, disciple of Frank Zappa, Rob will be loved and missed forever. "...I am the heaven, I am the water ... F.Z."Services next spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to WPFW radio station or animal rescue of your choice.

i worked with Rob early 90s at Motorhead and became fast friends. predictable and well balanced, he was so easy to be around. Working while passing Zappa quotes back and forth was the norm for us. RIP my brother, and tell Frank hello!

Robert was the kindest and most giving person I have ever known. He never hesitated to say yes when asked for a favor. Bob you are truely missed! Laura, I'm so sorry.I will always remember how we used to crack up laughing. Rest in peace, my friend! I will see you again!

I remember more than 40 years ago, we were in our mid teens. It was Robert I think that we should all spell our names backwards. His was Trebor Noslohcin. Mine was Divad Asor. We had good times together.

I am so sad to hear this..Robert was the gentlest of souls. My heart goes out to Laura,Kathy and his father. I cherish the nights sitting in his basement listening to music,hanging at Ft Scott with out friends. Watching races at the Point. Please let me know when his services will be held.
