PLOUFFE ROBERT LOUIS PLOUFFE, JR. "Bob" Passed away peacefully at his home in Lansdowne, Virginia the morning of June 14, 2017 at the age of 91. Bob Plouffe was born on May 29, 1926 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Robert L. Plouffe Sr. and Venita Plouffe (née Houde). After graduating from Brockton High School in 1944 at the height of World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as Radioman 1st Class aboard the Navy's PBY-2 aircraft in the Pacific, even flying over the fleet in Tokyo bay during the armistice signing with Japan. Upon returning home in 1946, Bob doggedly pursued, and eventually won admission to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. A chance meeting with Lois Robey, a former Brockton High School classmate and now a medical lab technician in attendance at the birth of his youngest sister Denise, led to marriage in 1949. Mr. Plouffe achieved great success after graduating from MIT in a brilliant technical and executive career that spanned five decades. He was credited with numerous patents in the communications and defense communications fields early in his career at Philco and then at ITT Federal Systems, where he also established and directed their Digital Systems Laboratory. In 1961 he went on to become Vice President in charge of Engineering at Stelma, Inc., and in 1970 he joined the executive staff at Computer Sciences Corporation in Falls Church, Virginia, soon becoming President of their largest division at that time, responsible for many federal defense and non-defense programs. In his later career he held similar executive positions at PRC, Contel, and Wheat International before retiring to Leesburg, Virginia in Lansdowne. He was a devoted husband, and a kind and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Plouffe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Robey Plouffe; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Louis Plouffe, III and Patricia Kay Plouffe of Clifton, Virginia, Reid Grafton Plouffe and Sherri Lynn Oken of Wakefield, Massachusetts, Richard Scott Plouffe and Louise Irene Plouffe of Boca Raton, Florida; sisters, Gloria Carlson of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, Phyllis Hancock of Brockton, Massachusetts and Denise Plouffe of Lubec, Maine, along with six grandchildren and 11 (soon to be 12) great-grandchildren.
