ROBERT STEPNEY Obituary
ROBERT EDWARD STEPNEY, JR.
Robert Edward Stepney Jr. (Cootney), Age 49, peacefully passed away on May 18, 2016, at his home in Washington, DC surrounded by family. He is survived by his mother Lillie Bowman, wife Michelle Ford-Stepney, daughter Shakiyla Stepney, step-daughter Kira Ford, step-grandson Ilan Ford-Harris, sisters Shirley Smith Adams (Johnny), Rosalind Stepney, Estrilla Stepney and Roberta Stepney; brothers, James Bowman, Richard Stepney (Christine) and Anthony Stepney and a host of other family and friends. His father, Robert Stepney, Sr., preceded him in death. At the time of his death, he was employed with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in the position of Station Manager. Services will be held on June 3, 2016, at Holy Comforter-St Cyprian, 1357 East Capitol Street, SE. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Repast will be at St. Luke''s Center, 4923 East Capitol Street, SE. Arrangements entrusted to Pope Funeral Home.

God Bless You Family!! Robert and I started at METRO 22 years ago as Traffic Clerks. He was not only a co-worker but a good friend. I chose him as one of my groomsmen for my wedding. He was a good brother and a friend for life. I will miss him!! I will continue to pray that God comforts you with His peace and strength in the name of Jesus. Amen!

To be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord Savior Jesus Christ .Cootney as they called him, had a giving heart. Always giving advice to my daughter as you should travel and see the world. Also give thanks to Lord in everything we do!He was my first and only son in law. Precious is the saint that dies in the Lord! God looks at the inward appearance not outward. He is no longer suffering and now a glorious man. Rest in peace!
