Robin Woods

Robin Browning Woods, 78, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on November 21, 2025. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born February 10, 1947, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to Robert and Ruth Woods, Robin moved to Alexandria in 1958, where she remained for the rest of her life. She dedicated her career to making the world a better place, spending 32 years at the Environmental Protection Agency in the Office of Public Affairs, where she served as a Press Officer until her retirement in 2003. She worked on many memorable environmental issues, including Love Canal, the passage of Superfund legislation, and countless other cases that shaped the way we understand our impacts on the environment. She earned numerous awards and commendations while building lasting friendships and the deep respect of her colleagues.
Robin's kindness and generosity touched everyone she knew. She had a strong dedication to family and friends, always ensuring everyone was cared for. She loved nature and spent countless hours creating beautiful spaces in her gardens.
A vibrant member of the Parkfairfax community for most of her adult life, Robin served on the Board and several committees for many years. She was intellectually curious, loved to travel both within the US and globally, embraced learning new cultures and languages, and had a deep love for the arts, especially music. She played the piano beautifully.
She is survived by three sisters: Rebecca Woods of Alexandria, VA, Randall McKlveen of Linden, VA, and Renee Stramel (Jim) of Richmond, VA, as well as niece Christine Gordon (Jason), nephew Sean McKlveen (Christine), niece Erin Murray (Rich), niece Casey Morris (Devin), and many cherished grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
A celebration of Robin's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. All are welcome to join and share memories. Inurnment will be held privately at Arlington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robin's name to the World Wildlife Fund, or to local Alexandria nonprofits Carpenter's Shelter or Campagna Center.
