Roger Blassou Obituary

Roger Blassou died on August 15, 2025 and was buried on September 27, 2025 in Lokossa, Benin, West Africa. Roger was born in the same town where he died on December 30, 1964. He graduated from the Honors Teaching College (Ecole Normale Supérieure) in Porto Novo with a Masters degree in English and teaching certification. He was a beloved teacher of English as second language in Benin for several years followed by a career in international development, including 25 years at the International Monetary Fund, retiring in 2024. Roger is survived by his wife Maureen, their children Marie-Gabrielle, Michelle, Nicolas, Monica and Claire, his brothers and sisters, Bienvenu, Delphine, Mathilde, Charlotte and Bertin, many nieces, nephews, and friends in Benin, the US and around the world. A memorial mass will be celebrated on December 27, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4900 Strathmore Ave., Garrett Park, MD.
