Roger M. Whelan
The Honorable
On Friday, January 19, 2024, Roger M. Whelan passed away with his wife, Rosemary Whelan, of 63 years by his side. Roger is also survived by his children, Helen Whelan, Theresa Whelan, John Whelan, Jimmy Whelan, Julie Tina and Jennifer Tina. He is grandfather to Emma and Briana Whelan and James and Anthony Tina. His daughter, Kathleen predeceased him on March 23, 1975.
Roger was born in Montclair, NJ on November 12, 1936 to John L. and Helen Callahan Whelan.
Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking) on Januay 25, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Mass will be at the Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Rd., Ellicott City, MD, on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Private Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be Monday, January 29. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the benevolent fund at the Village at Rockville, 9701 Viers Dr, Rockville, MD 20850.

Roger's life was full of accomplishments, but there was nothing that made him prouder than your family. I learned so much from him and from you, Rosemary, about unconditional love. Your love for each other has always been evident, as is the deep love you both have always had for each of your seven children. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing and share your sorrow in this profound loss. With much love and deepest sympathy for each of you.
