ELLIOTT Rosalie Dorothy Elliott (Age 76) Longtime resident of Springfield, VA, passed away on August 9, 2021, peacefully surrounded by love. Rosalie was born and raised in Rome, NY. She graduated from Utica School of Commerce before moving to Washington, DC. as a young woman to begin her career, which boasts 41 years of federal government public service at the IRS, NASA, and EPA. She eventually went on to hold the position of Executive Assistant to the Assistant Administrator for Enforcement and Compliance Assistance at the Environmental Protection Agency. She was a highly valued member of the Environmental Protection Agency and received many awards for her service. She was a treasured facet of her community, being an extremely active member of the Springfield Quilters Unlimited and the Fairfax Quilters Unlimited; as well as a dedicated volunteer at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. She was renowned for her hospitality, making all her guests feel welcome with her thoughtful attention to detail, generosity, and delicious food. With a zeal for travel, she was able to visit Italy, the Netherlands, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, United Kingdom, France, and more; she was particularly fond of visiting her daughter and granddaughter in California. Rosalie loved art, especially Monet and other impressionists. Rosalie's legacy is bound by her amazing generosity, warmth, kindness, strength, and her skillful and heartfelt craftsmanship, most recently in the form of her beautiful quilts gifted to those she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and took a particular delight in showering love on her granddaughter, Bella. She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Richard W. Elliott; daughter, Elizabeth Elliott; granddaughter Isabella Dorothy Hopkins; sister, Josephine Stanmyre; brother, Joseph Peraino; nieces, Amy Stanmyre Wong (Joe) and their children, Grace and Josie; Sarah Stanmyre (Ali Jafree) and their children, Charlie and Rosalie; nephew, Matthew Stanmyre (Jackie Stanmyre) and their children, Jay, Kai and Leo; she leaves to cherish her memory many loving friends. Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Sam Peraino. A memorial mass will be held in Rosalie's honor on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, VA 22015. Livestream will be available on YouTube: Church of the Nativity Burke. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 19 at 10 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Cemetery, Rome, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to: Hope Connections or The Virginia Quilt Museum. For the Virginia Quilt Museum, we suggest sending donations by mail with a note stating the donation is being made in my mother's honor.
