RUBY JACKSON Obituary
RUBY JACKSON (Age 87)
Peacefully passed away on February 14, 2017 at her home in Seattle, WA. She was born in Roseboro, NC on November 16, 1929 to William and Verbie (Melton) Peterson.In 1959, she married Richard "Dick" Jackson in Washington DC. Ruby enjoyed her life as a diplomat's spouse, living in Pakistan, Switzerland, Malaysia, India, South Korea, Indonesia and South Africa and traveling to many other countries. In recent years, she enjoyed socializing with her many friends at her home in Horizon House, watching tennis on TV and spending time with her family.She is survived by her daughters, Susan Jackson and Lisa Jackson, MD (Lisa's partner, Julie Carkin, MD); beloved grandson, Jackson Knowles; and sisters, Mattie Grace Mayo and Dorothy Poinsett. She was predeceased by her husband, Dick. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Horizon House chapel, 900 University St, Seattle, WA. The family is grateful for the wonderful staff at Horizon House who gave such excellent care to Ruby during her 5+ years in Seattle. Any donations in honor of Ruby can be sent to the Horizon House Employee Education Fund.
