Sally Ormsby Obituary



ORMSBY SALLY ORMSBY Originally from Naples, NY, wife of Clayton; and mother of Alison and Tyler; passed away on September 15, 2008. Well-known, long-time civic activist dedicated to her community, which grew from Mantua to Northern Virginia, having served active roles in numerous organizations. Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations and Washington Post Citizen of the Year 2006, Virginia Mother of the Year 1996 and three-term board representative to the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District. The Sally Ormsby Environmental Stewardship Award was created in 2007 in her honor by the Fairfax County Park Authority, and she was the first recipient. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District for the Sally B. Ormsby Memorial Fund (Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Suite 905, Fairfax, VA 22035). A memorial service will be held at Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax at 11 a.m. on October 18.

Sally will be truly missed. Her energy, commitment, integrity and courage made her a special person in this community. She and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
