SALLY A. PICKETT  
Of Alexandria, VA, died peacefully at home, on Tuesday April 5, 2011. Born May 23, 1950 to the late Victor and Ingrid Renfors in Worcester, MA, Sally came to the Washington area in 1973, after graduating from Worcester State College. She worked as a legal secretary to H. Marvin Braverman. She always had a passion for reading and travel, so while working for Woodward and Lothrop Book Store, Sally began taking travel training courses. Eventually taking a job at Merritt Travel in downtown Washington, DC, she would advance to become Manager of the agency. Sally traveled worldwide, but retired due to health issues and major changes in the travel field. In retirement, Sally continued her enjoyed reading and traveling, until she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2004. Sally leaves to cherish her memory, Robert "Bobby", her beloved husband of 36 years; her cousin, Gary Liimatainen of Rutland, MA and many close, dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, 4444 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA on Wednesday April 13 at 2 p.m. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Sally Pickett may be directed to Support Ovarian Cancer Research at the John's Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Please make checks payable to John's Hopkins University. Gift may be mailed with a memo indicating that this gift is in memory of Sally Pickett to the John's Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, 100 N. Charles St., Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201. Arrangements by Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington.

"Aunt Sally" has been a dear friend for many, many years. Her cherished memory will always stay close to my heart, and her smiling face and beautiful laugh forever in my memory. May you be at peace.

I will miss you Aunt Sally. You were such a role model to me. I could talk to you about anything and you always knew when something was wrong. You always asked about me and the other Crockett's even though you were the one suffering. I will miss you more than I can explain. I love you.
