SANFORD GARNER Obituary
SANFORD GARNER, III
Died on Sunday October 2, 2016 in Georgetown, Washington DC. He was born November 12, 1961, in Kenosha, Wisconsin to the Rev Sanford Garner and Mary Garner.Sanford III was a long-time Washington and Georgetown resident, Sanford had a highly accomplished career in aviation as a helicopter pilot Captain.As a revered medevac pilot in the DC area, including Medstar Washington Hospital Center, Sanford's flight skills were instrumental in saving many lives throughout his career. Sanford is survived by his son, John Garner Casamento, mother Mary Garner and two brothers James and Robert. A memorial service will be held October 14, 2016 at 4 p.m., at the Washington National Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, all memorials should be made to the Washington National Cathedral.

I am so sorry to learn that Sanford is gone -- we were friends in college and I will always remember him as a wild, funny, thoughtful character. I enjoyed the brief time we were in touch in more recent years via facebook. My great sympathies to his family

My friend, Sanford, my Hero, my PIC (Pilot in Command), you did so many great things in your life, all, for your fellow man (and women!). Your heart was kind and true and strong. Your laugh was warm and genuine. Your passion was sincere and just. Your commitment to others was unwavering and commendable. You were a good man. You were a good friend. Your were a good son, brother, father, friend, comrade. And you were a GREAT Pilot!! I will treasure each and every moment and memory I shared with you. We saved a lot of lives, brother. And you saved mine! Thank you, San. Your work here is done. Rest easy, brother, we've got it from here. God bless!
