Sean Cutsforth Obituary


 
SEAN CUTSFORTH  
SEAN RUSSELL CUTSFORTH, 22, of Christiansburg and Manassas, VA died in the line of duty on December 15, 2010 in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Sean was born at Fort Belvoir on August 29, 1988, to Robert and Vickie Cutsforth of Manassas, VA. He was a Specialist in the United States Army 101st Airborne and serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. Sean attended Brentsville High School and was well recognized for his athletic abilities, particularly, his love of baseball, swimming and the outdoors. He was very active in the Greater Manassas Baseball League, Ben Lomond Swim Team and Greater Manassas Football League. He was an exemplary teammate and mentor. Sean made everyone feel welcome and accepted for who they were. He was wise beyond his years and never took a day for granted. Sean cared deeply for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by the many lives he touched. Surviving Sean is his devoted Army wife, Ashley Cutsforth, of Christiansburg, VA; unborn son, Sean Russell Cutsforth Jr.; his parents, Robert and Vickie Cutsforth, of Manassas, VA; sisters, Casey (and husband, Stephen Torrez), of Blacksburg, VA, Kayla (and boyfriend, Tim Edwards) of Christiansburg, VA; and brother, Ryan Cutsforth of Gainesville, VA; grandmother, Lois Widiker, of Cameron, WI.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rickey L. Hodge and Janice Dove Hodge of Christiansburg, VA. The Family will receive friends and celebrate Sean's life on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 9 a.m. at Fort Myer Old Post Chapel, Arlington, VA. Interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. A reception will follow the graveside ceremony at the Sheraton National Hotel, 900 South Orme Street, Arlington, Virginia 22204 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPC SEAN RUSSELL CUTSFORTH Memorial Scholarship at the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Scholarship Fund.
