Sheila Lockshin Obituary

Lockshin

Sheila Nathanson Lockshin

Sheila Nathanson Lockshin of Rockville, MD, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Dr. Norman Lockshin; cherished mother of Steven (Allison) Lockshin, Arlyn (Maurice) Amsellem, Benjamin (Courtenay) Lockshin and Alexis (Harrison) Gyurko; loving grandmother of Ethan, Jeremy, Rachel, Michael, Cori, Noa, Evelyn, Grant, Will and Dean; devoted sister of Nancy (the late Bill) Hart, Joanie (Rick) Rivitz and Marilyn (Larry) Levy. Sheila was born in Cleveland, OH on December 30, 1941 to Ethel and Fred Nathanson. The family matriarch and beloved 3rd grade teacher at the Landon School for 20 years, Sheila touched the lives of so many. Her role as an educator did not stop once she retired. She was committed to passing on her legacy to each member of her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her 10 grandchildren. She appreciated the simple things in life - a good book, tasty recipe, tidy house, grammar rules and anything purple.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, 12:30 p.m. at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Chapel in Clarksburg, MD with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (folmc.org). Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.

Ms Lockshin had a passion for education and learning that was admirable. Our entree into 10 years at Landon was Ms. Lockshin's 3rd grade class where the boys learned the importance of getting it "right". Year's from her class, many parents looked back and so appreciated her desire to see the boys succeed and reach for their best. As is still repeated by many of Kyle's classmates to this day... Be Honest, Do your best and help the other fella... might have been the lower school theme, but for many who attended Ms. Lockshin's class...it became a life theme.

Rest in Peace.

Dear Lockshin Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Sheila´s passing. We worked together for 18 years at Landon in the Lower School. She was one of the first people I met when I began there, and we developed both a good working relationship, and an easy-going friendship. I also had the pleasure of teaching Mikey and Jeremy, and send both of them my heartfelt condolences. May her memory be a blessing. Sincerely, Marlene Sclar
