Shirley Bisselle Obituary
Shirley Virginia Register Sherman Bisselle, 88 years old, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024. She is predeceased by her parents, husband and father of her two sons, Oscar L. Sherman, second husband, Dr. Charles Anthony Bisselle, and brother James Register II. Shirley is survived by her loving family to include: sons Marc Sherman (Susan) and Paul Sherman; grandchildren: Steven Sherman (Jaq), Jennifer Hiner (Nate), Katie Cummings (Chris), Michael Sherman (Ariel), Heather Scott (Kenny) and Robbie Trijo. Nine great grandchildren:
Skylar Sherman, twins Chase and Kinsley Hiner, Haley Scott, Madison Cummings,
Roman Sherman, Trevor Sherman, Maverick Scott and Ethan Sherman; her beloved sister Audrey Elizabeth (Beth) Register; as well as multiple nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Shirley was born in Suffolk, VA on August 11, 1935, and lived in Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Arizona (senior year of high School and freshman year of college), transferred to James Madison University where she earned a Degree in Business Administration.
Shirley began working at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in the Legal Division for various attorneys to include the Deputy General Counsel and then the General Counsel. After 20 years at the Federal Reserve, she worked as Office Manager for Governor Holland when he became President of the Committee for Economic Development (CED); she retired after 22 years at CED.
Shirley lived life to the absolute fullest and enjoyed: traveling, dancing, bowling, golfing, tennis, and socializing.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA on Friday, July 19, 2024; visitation 10 to 11 a.m., service 11 a.m. to 12 noon; a luncheon to follow at DeSanto Community Hall at DCVFD Station 13, 13511 Hillendale Drive, Dale City, VA 22193.
