Sonya Ryan Memoriam

RYAN SONYA BALL RYAN July 9, 1944 - July 15, 1988 It's been 20 years long. I don't know how we survived without you. The warmth of your smile and the dimple in your cheek The long talks at night before we went to sleep. We miss you especially during Christmas, Your favorite time of year. We miss your laugh and if we cried, your embrace was always near. Ultimately you taught us how to live You gave us the Spiritual foundation we know Because of you we trust the Lord and His mercy, wisdom and sovereignty We believe Him when we don't understand. We accept His thoughts that are high above ours And we rest in His loving hands. We have learned to be thankful for the time we spent together and know that one day, we will see you again. Chuck, Mom, Trinita, Kenneth, Lauren and William

During my junior year at Lincoln University Pa. I had the privilege to stay off campus and live with someone who became my guardian ANGEL.
I knew her as:
Sonya Lattimore-Ryan
She took me under her wings and helped me to become a successful retired Spanish Teacher.
I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM HER!!!
I MISS HER SO MUCH!!!

Sonya,
I miss your laughter and your wisdom. Whenever I see or hear the scripture "...to live is Christ and to die is gain," I think about you. It has taken me years to really understand the meaning of this scripture. Thank you for this special gift. Love your cousin.

My cousin, Mrs. Sonya Ball Ryan, I truly miss you. I miss your sense of humor, and your infectious smile. The wonderful times we had dancing with each other's shadows. I often reflect back to the joyous times we spent at Upshur and Chapin Streets, NW, Maryland Avenue, NE, and Arlington, VA. The times spent in Fort Washington, MD over a home cooked meal, listening to music and to hear you sing. You were a woman of faith, strength and character. I truly love you. (Sylvia "Saboo" Simmons).

My aunt, Mrs. Sonya Ball Ryan, was a great woman of faith. I think about her often and miss the time that we spent together at family gatherings, in church, and during the holidays. I wish that my wife and children could have been impacted by her grace, intelligence, and her sincere, loving heart. I can only wish that my legacy is a fraction of what hers is. She still inspires me to this day to be a man of spiritual substance, a man dedicated to family, and above all else, a man accountable to God.
