Remembering and honoring the life, service and sacrifice of Major Stephen Reich. May those who love him find peace as the anniversary of his passing approaches.

Memorial Day 2010...you are remembered. Thank you.

Remembering Stephen and mourning his loss.
May he rest in peace and know he will not be forgotten.

Fallen Brother, I thank you for your service and the freedom your sacrifice has earned us. I promise to prize this freedom and use it well. St. Adrian patron of soldiers, I ask you to watch over all Soldiers and family members. Give Comfort to those who grieve for our solders who gave their last full measure of devotion.

The circumstances which led to my writing on this page are so special that I can only think that the angels are truly watching over Stephen and all those who gave their lives in an effort to save Mike Murphy and his SEAL team. I hope that the years since Stephen's passing have been kind to his parents, family and all who love him.
Rest in Peace Major Reich - rest in peace.
I also wish to add my sincere thanks to Scott Koen and Dan Murphy, both of whom have played a significant role in this amazing story - every part of which shows me that love continues, and that faith and hope are paramount. Kim Straker, Australia

I realize there is NOTHING that could be said to you that could ever ease the loss that your family has endured... I wouldn't even begin to try.

I simply felt the need to convey my deepest, heart felt condolences, to those that lived nearest me...

I SIMPLY HAD TO reach out to those that lived closest to me and let their families know that the sacrifice that their SONS & DAUGHTERS have made ARE NOT, and WILL NOT be forgotten, and were not made in vain!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

-- the freedoms our country take for granted - are not free! they are only because of the special ones like Stephen--

My heartfelt sympathy to the Reich family in the loss of Stephen. I did not know Stephen, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Maureen and I wanted to extend our deepest sympathies to the Reich family on their loss. Major Steve Reich and his Special Ops guys, among others, was killed in the helicopter crash brought down by enemy fire while trying to come to the rescue of our son, Lt. Michael P. Murphy and his small SEAL team in the mountains of Kunar province, Afghanistan. We share your grief over the loss of a loved one and are forever grateful that Michael was surrounded by such great and loyal friends who were willing to lay down their lives for each other, GOD and country. These men were true blue "American Heros" and will never be forgotten in our hearts, minds or prayers. We salute the sacrifice of Major Reich and his Teammates in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Group in their attempt to come to the aid of our Mike and his men. You are all true American heros.

As Abraham Lincoln once wrote " in the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." These are men who will live on in the memories of those who follow in the fight for freedom and justice. Know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your loved one from the Brother of a fallen soldier in Afghanistan.

Sincere deepest condolences are extended to the family of another fallen hero from two very grateful Americans.

I was heartbroken to hear from Jack Sampson tonight of the loss of your wonderful son Steve.



Will save my other comments for a more private letter to come, other than to say that after a little research, Ray, I discovered he is a son who would make anyone as proud as could be.



Growing up as I did in the military,

I can see that he was among the very best and bravest we have! I am not at all surprised.



May God be with with you and your beautiful Family, including Steve's lovely young wife. You are all in my most heartfelt prayers.
