Stephen Gary Seebode

Stephen "Steve" Seebode, 65, of Germantown, Maryland, passed away 0ctober 8, 2022, at Holy Cross Hospital Germantown, after a valiant two-year struggle with cancer. Steve died with his wife Melody at his side, one day after their 44th wedding anniversary.



Steve was born in New Jersey, and moved to Maryland with his family at age 8. He attended Colonel Zadok Magruder High School. He was a career steamfitter and loyal member of Local Union 602 for over 40 years. Steve was a gregarious man, known by family and friends alike for his unforgettably vibrant personality and signature belly laugh. He adored his extended family, and he was known as Uncle Steve to every child he ever met, many of whom later introduced him as Uncle Steve or Grandpa Steve to their children. He was a startlingly talented guitar player who loved blues music and played his favorites to appreciative audiences for over 50 years.



Steve was preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Claire Seebode, as well as his sister Maureen Warriner and his nephew Matthew Warriner.



He is survived by his wife Melody, his cousin Mark Traversa (Tyndall), his cousin Merry Alfors (Ralph), his father-in-law Robert Russman, whom Steve called "Pop" (Linda), mother-in-law Dixie, brother-in-law Robert Russman II (Christine), and sisters-in-law Kathy Struck (Robert) and Yvonne Russman. He is also survived by the joys of his life, his nieces and nephews: Michele Reed (Patrick) and their children Alyssa, Danielle and Luke; Robert J Russman; Michelle Russman; Glenn Russman; Katherine Nicole Struck; Kayla Struck; Katharine Russman; Melody Russman; Genevieve Asbury (Logan); Julian Traversa and Heather Warriner. He is also survived by his goddaughter Ashley Dausener (Chris) and their children Sonia, Brooklyn and Dean Stephen.



Memorial services for Steve will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD, on Tuesday, October 18. The viewing will commence at 10 a.m., and the funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Steve will be interred at Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville, MD.
