Steve Callas Obituary
Steve Gus Callas (Age 79)
Passed away on May 23, 2023. Steve was born in Haradros, Greece on August 27, 1943.
Steve and his family immigrated to the US on September 15, 1951. Traveling by boat to New York. They joined their Uncle George in Washington, DC.
Steve attended Coolidge High School in Washington, DC., where he played many sports, including football, basketball and baseball. After graduation, he attended the Wharton School of Business and earned a bachelor degree in Accounting, followed by a masters and his CPA.
His career started as an intern at Bisselle, Meade and Co. where he quickly became a partner at a very young age. He remained at Bisselle, Meade & Co. for the rest of his career.
Steve was very social and loved to travel and meet new people. He was extremely charitable and generous to his friends and family, especially his church.
He is predeceased by his parents, Gus and Angeliki Callas and brother-in-law, Pete Vissas. Steve leaves behind his Life Partner, Ann Rita Connell, his sister, Christina Vissas (Pete), his neice, Barbara Schneider (Mike) and his nephews, Brandon and Kyle Schneider.
Viewing on May 31, at Joseph Gawler & Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. 5130 Wisconsin Ave., Washington, DC 20016. Funeral on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 10am. 721 Norwood Rd., Silver Spring, MD. 20905. In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to the church.
