Of Hagerstown, MD, on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown, MD.
Born June 15, 1916 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late John B. and Annie A. Harwood Abraham of Alexandria, VA.
He attended George Washington University and was co-owner of J&S Inc. in Alexandria, VA. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. He moved to Hagerstown in 1950 and in 1958, he became founder and President of Antietam Equipment Corporation. He retired in 1987.
He was active in the Lions Club; the Boy Scouts of America; the Maryland Motor Truck Association; the Washington County Historical Society; and the American Truck Historical Society (past President and Chairman of the Board of Directors).
He is survived by his wife, Ida Jeanne Dagger Abraham; two daughters, Lois A. Heefner of Aurora, CO and Joyce B. Abraham of Marietta, GA; five sons, Lawrence D. Abraham of Austin, TX, Neal B. Abraham of Greencastle, IN, Austin S. Abraham of Hagerstown, Wickliffe C. Abraham of Dunedin, New Zealand, and Roger G. Abraham of Hagerstown; six grandchildren and twin great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John H. Abraham of Alexandria, VA.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Dr., Williamsport, MD, with Rev. Mark Sandell officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
Family will receive friends at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Blvd. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hagerstown Lions Club Foundation, PO Box 167, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or the Mason-Dixon Council, Boy Scouts of American, 18600 Crestwood Dr., Hagerstown, MD 21742, or the Washington County Historical Society, 135 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
