SUZANNE BROWNING Obituary

BROWNING Suzanne Fossett Browning (1940-2021) Suzanne Browning died peacefully at home on the morning of Monday, September 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Suzanne was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Clarence and Norma Fossett. She is survived by Robert "Bob" her husband of nearly 60 years; her three children, Rebecca (spouse Bryan Roslund), Robert Jr. (Debra) and David (Armel); six grandchildren, William, Johnathon, Sarah, Daniel, Samuel, and Elizabeth; her brother Jack (Malinda) Fossett; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Suzanne was a lifetime Maryland native, born and raised in the Baltimore area as the daughter of a Methodist minister. She attended Western Maryland College where she met her husband, Bob. After marriage and graduation, they moved to a Browning family farm near Mt. Airy, Maryland and she taught special education at Linganore High School. After two years the couple moved to State College, PA, where Bob began his Doctoral Program. While there, her first two children were born. After completion of the degree, the family moved to Wisconsin for Bob to take a teaching position at Ripon College. Their third child was born in Ripon. In 1974, they moved back to Maryland to their current home in Olney. She quickly became active in the church with extensive volunteer positions. She then took on the job of the church Administrative Assistant at Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church and served in that role for the next 13 years. She retired at the same time as Bob, and they devoted their time to follow their passion for service. The next two decades were filled with over 25 Volunteers in Mission trips in Central and South America and numerous Habitat for Humanity projects throughout Maryland. Additionally, she worked in both leadership and hands-on roles with Shepherd's Table and Olney Help to meet the critical needs of her local community. She continued responding to calls for assistance with Olney Help even in the last few weeks of her life. She loved to travel with Bob, and they explored much of Europe together, making lifelong friends in many countries. Suzanne was loving, generous, warm, and full of grace. She delighted in her family and cared for them in every way possible. She was passionate about social justice and devoted her time, energy, and resources to enact change. Life celebration service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation in Suzanne's memory to any organization that supports social justice and poverty relief.Life celebration service will be held at a later date. Suzanne and I went through elem. school together & were friends. Her Mom was a substitute teacher at this school. Suzanne was smart and loved music and life. I just loved interacting with her & learned life lessons from her. As we went our separate ways, I missed her & her Mom. May Suzanne rest in peace, she will be missed by all who knew her I'm sure.
