TERRY SAUNDERS Obituary
Terry Lee Saunders (Age 69)
Passed away after a long battle with heart and lung diseases on Sunday January 1, 2017, at his home in Leesburg, VA. Terry was born on September 18, 1947 in Poplar Branch, NC to the late Algustus Overton Saunders and L. Roberta Lindsey. In 1980, he married Victoria Rose Klunk and together they raised their two sons, Terry Lee Saunders Jr. and Mathew Allen Saunders. Terry served two tours in Vietnam while in the Army. Upon his return, he joined the Army National Guard, and retired from the military after 22 years of service. Terry worked as a police officer for the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority for 28 years. Terry is survived by his wife, Victoria Saunders; two sons, Terry Saunders Jr. (Ashley), Mathew Saunders (Lauren); five brothers, Algustus Saunders Jr (Angeronia), William Saunders (Margaret), Ronald Saunders (Mary), Michael Saunders (Kathleen), and Kirby Saunders; two sisters, Ida Jones (Chris) and Jacqueline Harvey, and three grandchildren, Kira Saunders, Anne Saunders, and Connor Saunders. Funeral services will be held at Macedonia Disciple Church of Christ in Poplar Branch, NC at 1 p.m. on Saturday January 7, 2017. Memorial donations may be made in Terry's honor to the American Heart and Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

I worked with Terry for many years in the Police Department. He was a good man and always had a smile on his face. As a new Officer he was one of the old timers that made me feel welcome. He will be missed by many of us. R.I.P. my brother.
