Elizabeth Consolvo Obituary

Elizabeth Alice Rudolph Consolvo, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025 at the age of 86.

Alice was born on March 26, 1939, in New York City, NY and grew up in Bethesda, MD. She graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1957. She graduated from Denison University in 1961 and received her Masters degree from Stanford University in 1962.

In 1963, she married Charles W. Consolvo, with whom she shared three children: Charles Geoffrey Consolvo, Justin Scott Consolvo, and Corbett Davis Consolvo.

In 2008, she married Wilson N. Krahnke, her cherished companion and travel partner.

A dedicated educator, Alice taught English in Montgomery County, Maryland; Bangkok, Thailand; and Sumter, South Carolina. She later worked at the National Building Museum as Membership Coordinator during its formative years
Alice served as Alumnae Director for Holton-Arms School for nineteen years, where she became a trusted mentor and guide to countless students and alumnae.

In retirement, Alice and Wilson traveled the globe together, visiting more than sixty countries. She delighted in discovering new cultures and places, and she treasured the many friendships, both lifelong and new, that enriched her journey.

Alice was the proud grandmother of Sophia Elizabeth Ueda Consolvo and Simon Ueda Consolvo, the children of her eldest son, Charles Geoffrey Consolvo.

She will be remembered for her warmth, her love of learning, her adventurous spirit, and her enduring devotion to family and friends.

The family will hold a private service at a later date and invites those wishing to honor her memory to contribute to the Sibley Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

Alice Consolvo was am amazing mentor and friend during my formative years. I worked with her closely from 1987-1989 as she was the school representative for the Community Service Club. Her bright smile and supportive advice made her a joy to work with.

I was so sorry to hear of Alice's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her when I did some volunteering for Holton a number of years. We also enjoyed a few lunches together. I always admired her joie de vivre, her inquisitive mind and wit. She will be sorely missed and sending my deepest condolences. May she rest in heavenly Peace. Fondly, Liz Parker Nibley (Holton-Arms '74)

A delight to work with as a class volunteer! Great sense of humor, dry wit, and a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I always enjoyed our lunches and teas when she came to San Francisco. People like Alice are such an important part of any school -- their contributions create the school persona as much as the head, the faculty, and the students.

I will always remember Alice as a spirited, fashionable, funny, and sophisticated woman. She was a bright light in the Development office at Holton-Arms during my time with Alyce Dillon, Jennifer Broyles, Janice DeMare, Melissa Prather, and many more!

Treasured friend and adventurer! Precious Alice lived life in full color...mostly purple...our mutual obsession. She often asked me to wave at the ocean (Pacific). I regularly shared colorful pictures from my garden. We had many meaningful dialogues, trips, shopping and LAUGHS! A world without our Alice? Drab, I say. I hope Heaven is Purple, my friend!
