THOMAS CLINES Obituary
THOMAS GREGORY CLINES (Age 84)
of Bedford, VA and formerly of Middleburg,VA, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013.Born August 18, 1928, in Washington D.C.,he is survived by his beloved wife Heidi; fivechildren and their spouses; Tom and JeniferClines, Jean and Scott Wilson, June Anderson,Mary Clines, Patty Clayton; the mother of hischildren, Theresa Clines; and his six grandchildren, Ben, Jon and Nick Clines; NickAnderson, Briar Wilson, and Christine Clayton.He was predeceased by his parents, Ednaand Bart Clines; his sisters, Elinor Phelps and Mary Waddle; his brothers Barry and Bobby Clines; and his son, Michael. A decorated veteran of the Korean War, Tom was awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation, the Korea Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Following his war service, he continued to serve his country with honor and distinction over a thirty-year career as a federal employee in the intelligence community. He worked to protect American national security interests while working in numerous foreign countries such as Thailand, Laos, Germany, and Panama. After Tom retired from the federal government, he engaged in a very successful career as an international business consultant for almost thirty years. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Bedford, VA at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Interment will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Tom Clines was a helluva man. I had the pleasure of working closely with Tom during the Simba War in the Congo, where he helped me establish a Navy on Lake tanganyika to interdict the weapons and supplies coming across the Lake from Kigoma in Tanganyika (prior to Tanzania) where we had much to do by Che' Guevara's own acknowledgement in his "Congo Diary", with forcing Che' to give up and flee. We had our own Cuban Cadre thanks to Tom's relationships and the amazing trust that Tom engendered. I very much regret losing contact with Tom and not being anywhere around at the end. He was a friend and memory for all-time.

Thomas, I was surprise to hear of you r fathers passing. I know you celebrate his life and dedication to our countries safety.
