Thomas Holmberg Obituary

HOLMBERG, THOMAS F., SR.

On Sunday, December 22, 2002, at Iliff Nursing Home. Born in Coupon, PA on September 10, 1919, he proudly served in the US Navy, 1942-1945. In 1974, he was retired from the General Services Administration after 30 years of service. He was active in youth sports in Falls Church and Vienna, VA and played an instrumental role in providing athletic fields at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church as a founding member of the Men's Club and the CYO baseball team. His coaching activities spanned over 20 years and involved 100's of children. His wife of 49 years, M. Florence Holmberg, died in 1995. Survivors include six children, Thomas F. Holmberg, Jr. (Susie), Bruce Holmberg (Jeanne), Linda Kuehn (Jerry), Timothy P. Holmberg (Kate), Theresa Holmberg and Michael R. Holmberg (Caren). Brother of Madeline Durbin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christian, Thomas III, Jennifer, John, Kimberley and Ashley Friends may call at MONEY & KING VIENNA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Friday, December 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolf Trap Rd., Vienna, VA on Saturday, December 28 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Billy Cushman Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1069, Herndon, VA 20172.
