THOMAS V. O'KEEFE, SR. (Age 87)  
Of Alexandria, VA, died peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2015 after a brief illness. Tom was beloved by family and cherished by friends. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on June 3, 1928 to Michael and Veronica O'Keefe. His four siblings, James, Anna, Michael and Lawrence preceded him. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Faith; loving daughters Mary Moquin (Ronald) and Eileen Arrington (Rodney): loving sons Thomas (Elise) and Michael Brian (Martha); 15 grandchildren Sarah, Anne, Christopher, Patrick, Tracy, Kelly, Michael, Katie, Kathleen, Matthew, Kara, Eric, Faith, Kendra and Blake; and eight great-grandchildren Hunter, Emma, Caroline, Amelia, Riley, Ava, Brayden and Scarlett. Tom loved and was very close to all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom was a 1950 graduate of Georgetown University, and was an All-Star basketball player for the Hoyas. He is a member of the GU Athletic Hall of Fame and a member of the GU basketball All-Century Team. Upon graduation, he was the career scoring leader at GU and played for the NBA franchise, the Washington Capitols. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, as an FBI agent, as Georgetown University's head basketball coach, and as a sales representative for several school related companies. Tom loved people and was very thoughtful and outgoing. Tom remained close to many of his players. Tom and Faith met as students at Georgetown, where Faith graduated from nursing school. Tom was a loving husband and caring father. Tom and Faith were residents of Waynewood neighborhood, south of Alexandria, for fifty years. They lived a long and happy life together while raising their children and garnered many friends. Living in Waynewood was like being on vacation to Tom. He was an intense tennis player and loved his community. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26 at St. Mary Catholic Church, on South Royal St in Alexandria. Burial will follow at the Parish Cemetery. A celebration of Tom's life will follow at Il Porto Ristorante in the 200 Block of King St. in Old Town Alexandria. The family hopes many of their friends can attend in honor of Tom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's honor to his favorite church charity, St. Faustina Food Pantry c/o Christine Purtell, 10643 Courthouse Rd Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
