Of Charlotte Hall Veteran's Home, St. Mary's County, MD, on August 1, 2002 of complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Born August 15, 1912 in Washington, D.C., he graduated from Gonzaga College High School in 1928. Mr. Connolly retired from the Smithsonian Institution in 1977, concluding a career of more than 40 years in commercial photography. His career began as an aviation photographer with the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Later, his career included government civil service positions with the Government Printing Office, Library of Congress, Department of Defense and the Smithsonian. Mr. Connolly also worked as a portrait and news photographer covering the Washington "scene" including the White House during the administrations of Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford and for the firm of Harris and Ewing. He also served as the Public Information Officer for Marymount College of Virginia. His marriages to Leontine Tansill and Millie Posey ended in divorce. His long-time companion, Shirley Helck, of Fairfax County, VA, preceded him in death. Survived by children, Michael P. and Penny Seaman (from his first marriage) and Steven and Gerald (from his second marriage); ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was held in Waldorf, MD, August 2. Arrangements by John Eberwein Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Vincent's name may be sent to the National Wildlife Federation.
