Walter Roberts Obituary

Washington, DC – Walter A. Roberts, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on September 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Walter lived a full life filled with an unwavering love for his family and a passion for travel.

Walter was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on the Tuskegee Army Air Field and raised in Chicago. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago where he met his beautiful and loving wife, Sheila Roberts.

Professionally, Walter began his career at IBM and retired as a director of finance from Lockheed Martin. After retirement, he continued to enjoy traveling and spending time with his family. He served as a member of the Vestry at St. Paul's Rock Creek Episcopal Parish where his leadership and guidance were respected and highly regarded.

Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sheila, his children, Jasamyn, Mingo, Rhina and Geoffrey, his eight grandchildren, Skylar, Julian, Jordan, Zion, Mateo, Zadie, Zuri and Zaya, and his siblings, Scott, Marybeth and Robin. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter Sr. and Marion Roberts. His family will forever remember his bear hugs and warm smile, his generosity, solid advice, and words of encouragement.

He will be deeply and sorely missed. Service private.
