Warren Ratner
Warren Ratner, 76, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family after a brave fight gainst cancer on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. Warren's cheerfulness, kindness, and caring soul will live on in those privileged to have known and loved him. A word enthusiast, Warren had a passion for collecting quotes and published a book, titled Word Droppings. His parents, Louis and Jean Ratner, established a family hair salon business in 1936, which has since become the Hair Cuttery chain. Warren was a licensed hair dresser for 50+ years and that was the backbone of our family of hairdressers. He was a integral part of the family business and he was a valuable part of the think tank that grew all of our brands. He was Senior Vice President and in that capacity he helped steer the company's expansion to a business with nearly 1,000 salons and 13,000 stylists. Loving father and grandfather, Warren is survived by his brother, Dennis Ratner (Julie); his son, Gary Ratner (Ellen Krieger); his grandchildren, Heather, Moriah and Liana Ratner; his sister-in-law, Ann Ratner; his nieces, Kelly Ratner Mistretta (Stephen) and Lauren Ratner Bujosa (Franco); his dear friend, Susan Clark; and his canine companion, Asia. The family is very grateful for the compassion and love given by his caregiver and daughter-in-law, Ellen Krieger. He was born May 2, 1942 in Washington, D.C. The funeral service and Shiva will be private. We lost a very special man on May 8th. Warren fought a brave fight with grace and dignity. Many of our lives will not be the same. I was blessed to share in Warren's life for twenty-four years and what a gift he was to me. Warren leaves a very powerful legacy of a kind, generous and caring man that lent so much wisdom with many.I will keep him in my heart as he always has been.

Gary you have my deepest sympathy. You were a very young boy when we first met. Your Dad has always been one of my mentors. He hired me in Frederick when he opened Gallery Hairstyists. 1975(?) Warren was always so kind to everyone. One of the most brilliant men I've ever met. He will be missed but never forgotten. ❤

I met Warren about 10 years ago through Susan Clark and found him to be a very special person. Always at ease with himself he was a loving, caring person who had a love for life, family and friends.
