William Beane Obituary


William John Beane  
On Sunday December 31, 2017, Bill passed away unexpectedly in his home in Gaithersburg, MD. A native of Washington, DC, he was educated at Gonzaga College High School ('56) and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service ('61). He later obtained a Master of Arts from Georgetown University. Bill served as an Intelligence Officer in the Operations Branch of the Central Intelligence Agency (1957 to 1969). From 1964 to 1966, he spent one tour of duty in Laos. After returning to the U.S., he worked for the Departments of the Navy, Army and Air Force in Washington, DC. After his retirement in 2007, Bill enjoyed attending meetings of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers. His pastimes included playing golf, trips to the Outer Banks and spending time with his grandchildren. Husband of the late Mary Lou Beane; loving father of Christine Jacobs and her husband, Brad of Canandaigua, NY, William J. Beane and his wife, Nicole of Poolesville, MD, David Beane of Frederick, MD and Elizabeth Thompson and her husband, Adam of Gaithersburg, MD; adoring grandfather of Billy, Hannah, Lindsay and Abby; son of the late Francis and Helen (Ryan) Beane of Silver Spring, MD; brother of James Beane, John Beane and his wife, Christine of Silver Spring, MD and the late Francis Beane and his wife, Pat of Silver Spring, MD. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive him. Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Sunday January 7, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 11701 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg, MD 20878 on Monday January 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
