William Furlong Obituary

FURLONG WILLIAM R. FURLONG "Bill" (Age 76) Of Ashburn, VA died Monday, August 17, 2009 at Sunrise of Bluemont Assisted Living Center after a brief struggle with cancer. Born on September 17, 1932 in McKeesport PA, Bill was the son of the late Kramer and Winifred Furlong. On June 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Baker of Ernest PA who died after a seven-year battle with cancer in 2007. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a radar technician and worked for the U.S. Government until his retirement in 1990. Following that, he worked as a real estate agent until May of this year. Bill was a good man, devoted father, and husband and was involved in community service for the Knights of Columbus for most of his adult life. He was always willing to lend a hand and loved to tell jokes. He is survived by his daughter, Jody and his granddaughter, Marley; son, Bill and wife, Bev; and his brother, Robert and his wife, Becky. The family would like to thank everyone who shared in caring for Bill including the staff at Sunrise of Bluemont and all the family and friends whose prayers and support mean so much. Funeral services will be held at Christ the Redeemer Church, Sterling VA on Friday, August 21 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Sterling VA.
