WILLIAM HENRY METCALF, JR.  
Longtime Washington architect, died February 3, 2016, of complications after a long illness at his home at Grand Oaks in Washington, DC. A native of Memphis, TN and graduate of Yale University (''48), he is survived by his daughters, Ramsay K. Metcalf and Anne L. Metcalf; grandsons, Jack Stoody and George Stoody; former wife, Barbara Keller Metcalf, and his devoted caregivers, Kumba Kallay and Godfrey Mwesigwa. His wife, Byrdie Gates Metcalf predeceased him in 2008. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on February 27, 2016 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1125 Savile Lane, McLean, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or to the Alzheimer''s Association.

Bill and my dad, Roger Mellem Sr. were partners and both were honored Fellows in the AIA. He was a gifted architect and will be missed, particularly in the hospital design arena. On behalf of my family, please accept our condolences.
