Dear Mrs. Settles and Family,
Learning of Steve's passing certainly left me with a heavy heart! It was one of the most dedicated professionals I had the pleasure of working with in the PGCPS district! He was ALWAYS there to help the schools, administrators all in the name of safety for the children. He was missed when he left the system. He will certainly be missed from our earthly experience.
God bless you and your family and thank you for sharing him with us.

Mary, Mary, Mary
I'm still processing the thought that Steve is no longer with us. He was indeed a good brother in Christ at Emmanuel to all that really got to know him. I have fond memories of him as a trustee. I was on the board when he joined. He sat quietly for a few Sundays...then the Steve that I came to know emerged. He kept us laughing as we worked with his quick wit. If we were moving too slow...I can hear him saying "what's up I got to get going before you know my boys are playing today".
He was a blessing to my mother as well. Whenever he saw he at church, he would always compliment her on her outfit...especially her shoes.
God has a way of easing the pain one day at a time. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers in the days to come.

Mrs. Settle and family. Mr. Settle was like a father to me. Always impressing the need to be saved and close to God. He was a "Jokester", always offering me up on the basketball court or the track. He taught me many life lessons through our long talks, and just advice on various subject matters. He clowned me about almost anything, and the fact I am a NC A&T Aggie, but most of all he always had great advise, and was there for me in some of my most difficult times. I'll miss him deeply, but know he is well in heaven, and pray to see him again in glory! Settle would yell: "Homie Home" , I would yell back: "Stevie Steve". Love you Mr. Settle!

Mrs. Settle,
Words fail me in expressing how sorry I am for your loss. I had only known you and your husband for half an hour when God, in His wisdom, took Mr. Steve from this life. I am so grateful that I was able to meet him, if only briefly...but there will be eternity! Please know that I am praying for you and your family continually.

To the family of Coach Settle,
Pleas know that our prayers are with you during this difficult time. Some of the best times as coaches came for us, the former football staff of Fairmont Heights, when we got to compete against your well coached football teams and the conversations and mutual respect that existed between us. Later as all of us got older we shared wonderful memories on the golf course. You were a great coach and even better person. You will be forever missed.

Each day I marvel at the wonderful gifts God gives to us... And Steve was one of those "Gifts". I met him and his family at Emmanuel and they all shared the Love of God in their daily walk. There is a saying "if you want to know the character of a man take him on the golf course". I was blessed to share a round with Steve and to have little Steve just recognize my voice at the course;and like father like son - men of respect! My love to the Family and thank you for sharing.

Mary and Family,
I am sorry and deeply saddened to hear that Settle has passed away. He and I worked together in Transportation (PGCPS). The Settle I knew was profoundly dedicated to his job, but even more to his family. When we worked together, he always talked about you and the kids. He deeply loved you all. He was so proud of his kids and sincerely wanted the best for them.
Settle was a wonderful person and a good friend. He was a charismatic leader, always willing to share his knowledge, sometimes humorously with his infectious laugh. We were all like family, the Transportation Family.
My warmest condolences to you and your family. I pray God's Grace give you strength during this difficult time.

Mrs. Settle,
I met Mr. Settle in 1971 when I tried out for the DuVal Sr. High School J.V. Baseball team. I did not make the team & I later joined the Track Team. He later became an Ass't Track Coach & we began a friendship which I will cherish forever. When I returned to DuVal as a teacher & coach he supported me in the classroom & @ my team's matches. He was a great teacher, mentor, coach, colleague & wonderful human being. One day @ a faculty meeting he said to me "Santo you don't have to call me Mr. Settle anymore, you can call me Steve". I smiled & replied "I can't". He asked why? I replied I just can't you were my teacher & coach. He laughed & said don't tell everybody it makes me feel old. Mr. Settle taught by example & helped shape the future. He challenged young minds to think outside the box. God Bless you "Steve" Settle. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal".
