William Signer Obituary

William "Bill" Signer passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 76 after a determined battle with cancer. A loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and colleague, Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Danziger, and daughters, Danielle and Jordana; his brother Richard (Helaine); sister Barbara; sisters-in-law, Diana Danziger and Renée Danziger; and a loving extended family that included nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Bill was captivated by Washington, DC as an undergraduate at American University. When he graduated from the School of Law at Hofstra University a few years later, he immediately returned to Washington, DC where he first worked for Congressman James H. Scheuer (D-NY), a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Bill then served as tax and legislative counsel for Congressman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY), who remained his mentor and close personal friend until he passed away last May.
Bill worked for nearly 20 years at the Carmen Group in Washington, DC. While his efforts encompassed a wide range of issues, Bill always brought integrity, skilled leadership, determination, and credibility, along with a sharp sense of humor to his clients, colleagues, and connections. Admired for his tireless advocacy on behalf of his clients, he possessed the rare ability to maintain close ties and respect on both sides of the aisle, working in a bi-partisan manner to achieve and accomplish clients' goals. Bill spent hours during his final days communicating with clients, providing updates, and happily discussing strategy from his hospital bed.
Bill especially enjoyed working with interns and young staffers, passing down his knowledge and insights to the next generation of policymakers, making sure they had a working knowledge of the legislative process and sharing his exuberant excitement for all things political. Many of Bill's former interns have continued for years to ask for his guidance and expertise.
Bill will be remembered by many for his fierce devotion to his family, community, colleagues, friends, and the New York Yankees. Gifts may be made in Bill's memory to the World Central Kitchen at wck.org. Service private.

I just spoke with Bill a few weeks ago about the Yankees, WOTC, and CBR--he was a true friend and mentor in the best sense to my father and to me. Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can help to continue his work and honor his legacy. Our thoughts are with the family, may his memory be a blessing.
