I remember Willie from Pinecrest Elementary School and Aiken High School in Aiken, S.C.. I remember him fondly hanging out with James Adams and my brother Roger. They were the cool older kids of the class of 1969. The world has been five years without a very good man and believe me the world was a much better place with him a part of it. May the force of goodness be with his family and friends.

OMG.,...My favorite supervisor! I remember when Willie would give me and my friend Jackie lunch money. We were his secretaries. I will never forget the day he hired me in 1995. My deepest condolences, Sonya Boyd

Initially we were coworkers at Department of Labor but our personal grief ( the loss of my marriage and loss of his wife) created a friendship in which we could share matters of our hearts. Our grief was one of many "Ephraim moments" that would remind me "Emmanuel." We would always remind each other that everything would work out for good. Willie's favorite saying in the midst of chaos, confusion, disappointment and pain was " it's going to be ok." Being with him I knew would be filled with me clapping my hands and laughing loud while watching his whole body laugh... I loved to watch my beloved friend laugh but not as much walk. Before the word "swag" he had it! As we dealt with our health challenges we spent time not only laughing, checking on each other but being comfortable to share matters of our hearts. We would check on each other, pray for each other, rejoice with each other and yes cry with and for each other.
There are no words that gives Willie M. Alexander justice to describe him. Par excellence doesn't do him justice. He enriched my life beyond any words except "Emmanuel." So grateful to God for our loving and caring friendship. I miss him everyday. I pray daily for his daughters, grandchildren, and the rest of his family and friends. Until we meet again my Beloved friend.

Willie was my best college friend. When he was accepted to law school at Howard University, I rode across country with him in his old beat up VW so that he would not have to suffer going across the desert without air conditioning in his car alone. He will be truly missed. Whenever I came east, I would always try to see Willie in DC, or he would visit me at the home of my relatives who lived in Maryland. Farewell to a dear friend, who blessed my life by just knowing him with such wisdom!!! We will meet again in eternity. To the Alexander family, you had a real father, brother, uncle, grandfather who cared about everyone he met as his love showed through.

To the Family
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I went to High school with Willie at Aiken HS in South Carolina. He was one of the cool guys on campus as we went through desegregation in the deep south. The world lost a great person. We from Aiken salute Willie. May the force of goodness comfort his family as we honor our fallen brother.
