Wyatt D. Eisenhauer Obituary

Wyatt D. Eisenhauer had dyslexia, so he picked up all kinds of knowledge the way he could _ by listening. He taught himself how to play guitar and did well enough in school to earn a scholarship to college. "Wyatt was like a sponge. He'd seen something or heard something and he absorbed it because he couldn't depend on reading it," said his mother, Gay. "There wasn't anything he couldn't master." Eisenhauer, 26, of Pinckneyville, Ill., died May 19 in Mahmudiyah, Iraq, on an escort mission when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle. He was based at Fort Riley. Eisenhauer placed first in a state diesel equipment technology competition and earned a scholarship to attend Southern Illinois University for automotive technical training. When he was 21 and his youngest sister, then 8½, was diagnosed with rare autoimmune disease that required chemotherapy treatments, he would lie on the floor with her, clean up after her and change her clothes. "Wyatt was never about him," his mother said. He is also survived by his father, Fred.

I saw your van parked at Babies R Us in FVH today. It took a little searching, as I didn't know anything about you other than the message on your car, to find some information about your son and this website. I just want you to know how sorry I am for your great loss, and to let you know that I will be praying for you as I pray each day for my own son who is serving in the US Army in Iraq today. Know that another mom, who never had the privilege to meet your son, will never forget him.

To Gay and Fred Eisenhauer: My prayer is that you, as Wyatt's parents, have been able to find some peace in your lives, since the tragedy of Wyatt's death. As a mother of two sons, 13 and 17, I can't begin to imagine your pain and loss. I know how proud of Wyatt you both are, and I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss, but, also for the loss of such a wonderful human being. I know that he is in God's care, and I pray for peace, for all of Wyatt's friends and family, but also for this world, so that not one more child must die.

To the Eisenhauer family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Wyatts' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Dear family of Pfc. Wyatt D. Eisenhauer,

We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.

Very Sincerely

Frank G. Noyes

To the family of Pfc. Eisenhauer,
Please know that just as your loved one will remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless you.

In Memory of Wyatt ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Wyatt, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It was a blessing to speak to Mom and Dad at the hospital while we were there to visit one of our pastors, Darrell E. who is Wyatt's uncle and great friend of ours. We pray the Lord's comfort over you guys as you live on from day to day. Young men like Wyatt will never be forgotten and our prayers will go forth for you special mom's and dad's whose loss is beyond our ability to comprehend. May Jesus grant you peace and the knowledge that you took good care of him on this earth and that He will be faithful to watch over and care for him in His eternal kingdom of which we desire to be part of. Love from Jeff and Dixie Rush. It was an honor to meet mom and dad.

God Speed Brother I miss you

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Wyatt will be a part of many people lives, and have touched so many lives. I have never met Wyatt, I only know of him from others, and the many things I have read in this 'guest book' and on the site in his memory. But even before then PFC Eisenhauer was a man that I thought of often and I cried tears of sorrow for the great lose of his life. My dearest friend was was one of the soldiers with Wyatt that day. The selfless sacrefice of PFC Eisenhauer, SSG Don Huntley, SSG James Dyer, SPC Ryan Miller (the men with Wyatt that day) are "OUR" true heors.
To PFC Wyatt Eisenhauer family, I want to thank you as well, you are a hero as well, your sacerfice is a true selfless one. His memory and spirit will live on in me and in the lives he has touched. Thank you and God be with you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND, YOU ARE TRUELY MISSED!!!

Dad

June 9, 2005

Wyatt,

I hope you know Mom and I tried to be good parents and we love you dearly.

people try to reassure us that for the kind of person you were we had to have

been good parents. If we had anything to do with your virtues and abilities

then we succeeded in that respect but you were short-changed so many times

in so many ways in life and we feel kind of guilty about that, that we were

not able to make things better for you.

There is a mememorial fund started for you, we hope to get it on the internet

and somehow make something really big out of it. We'll use it for things that

we know you would have done. Mom mentions things like kids who want to be in band

but can't afford an instrument. I don't know how to bring all this about but

instead of thinking it's just a pipedream and forgetting about it, I'll find out,

you went after your dreams. Maybe someone will read this and offer some advice

to [email protected]

We're gonna miss you Wyatt

Dearest Wyatt,

Words can't express how heavy my heart is and how much I miss you. You were an awesome brother and my beset friend! It's so unfair. I know you would have made a wonderful Dad to those 12 kids you wanted. Your nieces and nephews miss you, but I will make sure they remember who you are! I will try to live life with the enthusiasm you did and teach my kids the sky is the limit. I love you forever ... Until we meet again.

Love,

Your big Sis!

I am saddened by your loss. I, too, lost someone in Iraq. My brother, Spc. Jeffrey S. Henthorn, with the 24th trans co. of Ft. Riley passed away this February 8,2005. I understand the pain and grief your family is endouring at this time, but time does begin to heal some of the pain. Remember Wyatt for who he was and the way he would want you to be today. It's ok to cry, it's ok to breakdown in the middle of the grocery store, it's ok to wake up from a dream about him and miss him all the more. It's ok to grieve. It is ok to want one last time with him.
