Arlene R. Zuelke Polege, 85, Stratford, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 9:30 am on Saturday until service time at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. St. Joseph's Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Arlene was born on July 8, 1931 in Mosinee to Joseph and Theresa (Jansen) Stark. She graduated from St. Paul's Parochial School, Mosinee and Mosinee High School. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Zuelke on August 27, 1952 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Mosinee. He died on November 23, 1984. She later married Edward W. Polege on July 26, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford.

After her marriage, Arlene and Bob farmed in the Town of Eau Pleine where she was a devoted wife and mother. Years later she was employed at the Marshfield Living Center for 9 years until her retirement. After retirement, she worked as a home health aide while also caring for her grandchildren of all ages.

Arlene was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. Among many hobbies, she enjoyed making maple syrup, baking, playing cards, sewing quilts and knitting mittens. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Edward and her children, Cathryn (John) Jensen of Galesburg, MI, Donald (Barbara) Zuelke of Stratford, Mary (Steven) Handrick of DePere, Thomas (Mary) Zuelke of Stratford, Edward (Connie) Zuelke of Montello, Judith (Kevin) Heeg of Marshfield and Carole (Michael) Steinert of Marshfield. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is further survived by siblings, David (Arline) Stark, Joseph (Barbara) Stark, James (Kathleen) Stark, John (Charlene) Stark and Eleanor (Leonard) Midlikowski.

She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Robert, a daughter, Susan Marie Zuelke, brothers, Ronald and Norman Stark and a sister, Eunice Jacobs.

Memorials may be designated to Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield, in memory of Robert and Arlene Zuelke and Susan Zuelke.
