Brinkman, Donald

Donald L. Brinkman, 90, Edgar, WI. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 5, 1924 to Alois and Helen (Schueller) Brinkman. He proudly served in the United States Navy from March 1943 - March 1945 during World War II then January 1950 - January 1951 in the Korean War. He married the love of his life Geri (Radke) on November 29, 1947 in Edgar, WI she preceded him in death on November 23, 2011. He worked for Wausau Insurance in the maintenance department for 25 years before retiring He had a love for fishing, spending time up north at the cottage, dancing, puzzles, playing cribbage watching his favorite teams the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

He is survived by his four children; Pamela (Tom) Pietrowski, Norma (Bob) Nowak, Steven (Mari) Brinkman and Todd (Ellen) Brinkman. Four siblings; Mother Helen Jean, Carol (Bob) Due, Al (Camille) Brinkman and Ken (Karen) Brinkman one sister-in-law; Audrey Brinkman. Nine grandchildren; Terry Lynn (fiancé Ron) Pietrowski, Scott (Lisa) Pietrowski, Tom (Tiffany) Pietrowski, Amanda (Rick) Seubert, Steven (Jessica) Brinkman, Bobbie Jo (Will) Schara, Jake Brinkman ,Aurora Brinkman and Michael Brinkman. Thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife Geri, parents Alois and Helen, three brothers; Butzie, Franklin, and Severin and one sister-in-law Ruth Brinkman.

A memorial service will be on May 19, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church in Edgar with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until time of mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Robert Streveler officiating. Burial will take place at the Edgar Cemetery with the American Legion Post 393 and the VFW Post 10187 performing military honors.

Family would like to thank the staff at Tender Loving Care for Seniors Home Care for all the wonderful care they gave Don.

I was sad to so this. I knew Don and Geri through their visits to the library in Edgar and Wausau. Absolutely lovely people! Don was a hoot! Hold your happy memories close to your heart.
