Schofield - Doris M. Hintze, age 97, of Schofield, WI, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, WI. Doris was born in Wausau, WI, on April 8, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank and Pauline (Behnke) Zahn. She married Frank J. Drake, Jr., on July 5, 1941, in Pine City, MN; he passed away in 1987. In 1990, Doris married Vernon R. Hintze; he passed away in 1996.

Doris lived most of her life in the Wausau area. She enjoyed extensive traveling, covering most of the United States and some European countries. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, football, and hockey, and took great joy in ballroom dancing. She was an active partner in Frank's plastering business and also worked as a professional seamstress for Scottie's Interiors for 14 years. Doris was a member of St. Paul's Church while growing up and was a current member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Rothschild, WI.

Survivors include one son, Frank J. Drake, III, and his wife, Lynn; 2 grandchildren, Londa Drake and Zachary (Lindsay) Drake; 3 great-grandchildren, Teagan, Aksel, and Freya; 1 stepson, Mark Hintze; 1 stepdaughter, Marie Hintze; and 2 step-grandchildren, Jade and Anthony James. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pauline; her first husband, Frank; her second husband, Vernon; and 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

A very gracious thank you to Sally Jones for her weekly companionship, dedication, and commitment to aiding Doris over the years and to Aspirus Hospice House for their wonderful care of Doris in her last days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.
