Evan Voss Obituary
Evan E. Voss, age 93, New London, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, following a short illness at Bethany Home, Waupaca. He was born on September 22, 1923, in the Town of Union (Waupaca County), son of Max and Elnora (Wohlrabe) Voss. Evan was united in marriage to Evangeline Soffa in 1968. He graduated from Manawa High School and went on to attend School in Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau. Evan was drafted in the US Army in 1943; he fought in WWII with the 36th Infantry Division in Italy, France and Germany. He received the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and four Purple Hearts; he was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman Badge, 7 Major Campaign Ribbons, and the French Legion Honor Award. Following the Korean War Evan continued his service in the US Army Reserve rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Evan returned home to run the family dairy farm, Spruce Lake Dairy, that was owned by his father and grandfather. Always holding an additional full time job. In addition to work, Evan loved elk hunting and fishing.
Evan is survived by his wife Evangeline; children, Judy (fiancé Larry Boneck) Meyer, Mosinee; James (Lynette) Voss, Stevens Point; son-in-law, Michael Nualla, San Francisco; grandchildren, Brent (fiancé Kara Thiel) Meyer, Phoenix AZ; Isaac Voss, La Crosse; Ashton Voss, Stevens Point and Oakley Voss, Stevens Point; sisters in-law, Joyce Voss, Iola and Jo Nieland, Green Bay; Kevin Mitchell, special person treated as a son, and also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Margie Nualla, former wife, Sally Richmond Voss (mother of his 3 children), three sisters (Geraldine, Dorothy, and Delores) and two brothers (Victor and Franklin).
Funeral services for Evan will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Marcus Schulz officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full military rites will be held.

No one who knew Evan will ever forget him. He had the greatest personality like no other. I will cherish the wonderful memories of our trips to Wyoming, San Francisco, the many birthday parties, Land O'Lakes parties, his visits at our home. The Voss Family is richer for having Evan in their lifes. I am truly honored to be a part of the Voss Families.

To my dear friend and elk hunting partner. They can never take away all the great times and memories we had while traveling back and forth to Wyoming and hunting those big elk together. Oh the laughs and joke telling we did. I will never forget all the great advise you gave to me. And being fellow war veterans in the service to our country, we shared many good and bad memories, we had such great conversations (and we did and will always stand for the nation anthem). You will sadly be missed, rest in peace my friend.
