George Glaser Obituary

George Hodges Glaser

George Hodges Glaser, 81, passed away on December 29, 2020 due to complications related to COVID-19. He died under the care of Advent East Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

George was born on December 13, 1939 in New York City, NY. He was the son of the late George and Edith Lucille Glaser.

George earned his undergraduate degree from Parsons College and his Masters in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Stout. George worked as a substance abuse counselor in Wisconsin as well as in Florida, after moving there in 1996. After retirement, he worked part time at Williams Sonoma where he would provide culinary demonstrations for customers and spend time cooking, a great hobby throughout his lifetime.

George lived in Wausau, Wisconsin for 25 years. He and his late wife Doris owned and operated Buerger's Gifts in downtown Wausau from 1978 to 1992. Buerger's Gifts served as Wausau's place to go for fine gifts and collectibles.

George was also completely dedicated to his animals. From his first dog, Trixie to his grand-dog Mattie and his living dogs Zoé and Ollie. He loved his dogs with all his heart, feeding them gourmet meals and taking them on every adventure.

George was preceded in death by his wife Doris Glaser. He is survived by his five children; Merle (Dana) Glaser (South Carolina), Michael (Laura) Glaser (North Carolina), Robert Church (Florida), G. Nicholas (Nikki) Glaser (Minnesota), and Dina (Anthony Derum) Glaser (California). He is also survived by four grandchildren; Tahnee (Lucas) Siewert, James (Amanda) Glaser, Grayson Derum (4), and Gussie Derum (22 months) as well as two great grandchildren Jackson Siewert (5) and Finley Siewert (3).

The funeral mass will be celebrated when it safe for all parties to travel to Florida to participate. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of George Glaser to Pet Alliance of Orlando (https://petallianceorlando.org/).

Such sad news! George was a good friend and cooking class student. We chatted on FB often and he last told me his covid symptoms were "stable" on Dec. 23rd. May George's Memory be Eternal ✝

George was a man full of charisma and life. It was such a pleasure working with him at Williams-Sonoma where he made everyone’s day with his humorist disposition. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family. I will keep George in my thoughts and prayers.

George was a pleasure to work with at William Sonoma. Bringing laughter and culinary techniques to work. Always smiling and always telling jokes! I always enjoyed working alongside George. He will be missed dearly!
