George Polley Obituary

Polley Jr., George C.

George C. Polley Jr., 50, of Wausau died early Monday, October 12, 2015 in Wausau, WI.

George was born August 16, 1965, in Wausau, son of George Sr. and Beverly (Steppert) Polley. He received his education in Wausau and graduated from Wausau East in the Class of 1982.

At the age of 13 George would tag along with his father in his crane operating business which allowed him the opportunity to learn the business. After he completed Union Local 139 Engineering school in Coloma he began his career as a crane operator for the Union. George loved his work and enjoyed anything "high and heavy." His career allowed him the chance to travel throughout the United States working on building anything from nuclear power plants to bridges.

George had a love for bluegrass music and enjoyed going to festivals and concerts on the 400 Block. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and rebuilding transmissions. However his great love and enjoyment was any opportunity spending time with his daughter, Lucy.

He is survived by his parents George Sr. and Beverly Polley, daughter Lucy, two brothers, Jason and Timothy all of Wausau, and his many friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 6th Street with Rev. Ted Gulhaugen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St, Wausau and after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery, Village of Tigerton.

In Memory of my Dad

If I could write a story it would be the greatest ever told, of a kind and loving father who had a heart of gold. If I could write a million pages, but still be unable to say, just how much I love and miss him every single day. I will remember all he taught me, I'm hurt but won't be sad, because he'll send me down the answers and he'll always be MY DAD.

I only met Georgie a few years ago; always smiling and having fun with everyone. He had an unmistakable voice you could pick out of a crowd at a festival and know" yep, there's Georgie!!" Prayers go out to family and friends, especially his daughter, Lucy, you will be missed, my friend!

Though you no longer reside in physical form your energy is held safe in our hearts
your journey in this life ended, all care has flown
In your simple presence we found hopenOur lives were made richer by your being
Spun fine was the cloth of your existence
Your words, laughter and wit
circled around us like a pleasing aura that always surrounds you and all the lives you have touched
Keen perceptions and compassionate insight
accompanied your thoughts and words Gently kissing subjects both difficult and sublime
Your humaness honored us who knew you And was offered freely to all you met
May it abide in our hearts forever. Love and miss you my friend
