LaVerne Brown Obituary

Brown, LaVerne A.

LaVerne A. "Brownie" Brown 92, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Copper Leaf Assisted Living, Schofield.

She loved and was lovingly cared for by her Copper Leaf Family to whom we are so grateful. The former LaVerne Canfield was born to the late Raymond and Mary (Ewer) Canfield on August 13, 1923. She graduated from Ladysmith High in 1941. She worked at Peavey Paper Mill (Ladysmith) until it's closure in 1963. At the urging of her best friend (Marilyn Falkenthal), she packed up her children and moved to Wausau and landed a job at Wausau Paper Mill (Brokaw) where she remained employed until her retirement in 1986.

Retirement didn't slow her down, she loved being outside, gardening, fishing at the cottage, and walking. She also loved her Packers and Brewers, rarely missing a game.

She proudly raised and is survived by her five children, Janet (Pat) Rankin, Judy (Terry) Nosser, Sue (Mike) Drews, Bill (Pam) Brown, and Sheri (Allan) Langsdorf, fourteen grandchildren, Pat Jr. (Julie) Rankin, Kari Rankin, Krista (Bret) Frogness, Kimberly Jo (Curt) Johnson, TJ Nosser, Jeremy Nosser, Chad (Lisa) Drews, Jennifer (Jeff) Koss, Tara Olson, Michelle Brown, Maria Brown, Jessica Langsdorf, Gregory Langsdorf, and Kyle Langsdorf, twenty four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, sister Betty (Sis) Zmuda, sister-in-law LaVonne Canfield, many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friend Marilyn Falkenthal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Manny Canfield, Marvin Canfield, and Allen Canfield, two sisters, Jessie Ladd, and Alice Drury, two sisters-in-law Anne Canfield, and Edna Mae Canfield, three brothers-in-law Gene Ladd, Charles Drury and Tony Zmuda.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Kenneth Albers (St. Mark's Lutheran Church) will officiate.
