Colleen Ann Jacob, 72, of Denver, Iowa, passed away at home on November 7, 2023.
Colleen was born on June 29, 1951, in Minnesota, the daughter of Phyllis Ann (Decker) and Vern Byron Loveland. Colleen attended school in Janesville and graduated from Janesville High School in 1969. On June 21, 1969, Colleen was united in marriage to David Jacob in Janesville, Iowa. She worked as dispatcher for Bremer County during her younger years. After her children were grown, Colleen earned an Associates Degree in accounting from Hawkeye Community College. Colleen then worked the following thirty years during tax seasons at Security Tax in Waterloo and farmed beside Dave the rest of the year.
Colleen was a Master Gardener, and passionately loved all things related to horticulture and gardening. She had both flower and vegetable gardens and was a member of the African Violet Society of America. She was also a NRA Lifetime Endowment Member, and had memberships with the Cedar Falls Gun Club and the Cedar Valley Corvette Club. She and Dave enjoyed trap shooting and participating in Corvette club events. Colleen also loved traveling; several safaris to Namibia, Africa were highlights for the couple. They also enjoyed NHRA Drag Races and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a racing trip.
Colleen is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Dave; her son, Israel (Julie) Jacob of Blaine, Washington; her daughter, Carrie (Bill) Traetow of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Lucas (Hannah), Shelby, Isabelle and Ian Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Declan and Ford Jacob; four sisters, Mary Loveland, Donna (Bill) Simonis, Jennifer (Bob) Jans, and Shelley, (Kevin) Casey; one brother, Wayne Loveland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Jim; and a sister, Brenda.
Colleen's body has been cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Janesville. Memorials may be directed to Colleen's family for later designation and online condolences may be left at
