Miriam Levick Obituary
Miriam Elaine Hershberger was born on October 25, 1926, to Arthur and Irene (Hess) Hershberger in Lebanon, PA, the middle of five siblings. After graduation from Lebanon High School in 1945, she ventured to Washington DC to support the war effort. There she met Lewis (Buzz) Levick at a dance on the Fort Myer military base, culminating in their marriage on July 21, 1948, in her hometown. The couple moved to Iowa to live and start a family. Miriam supported Buzz as he completed his education at Drake University and launched a highly successful coaching career, moving their growing family to a series of Iowa communities before settling in Waverly in 1965. After both retired from Wartburg College, they traveled, followed their grandchildren's activities, and remained active in the Wartburg and Waverly communities.
Miriam is survived by her two daughters, Elaine (Harold) Fratzke of Clear Lake, IA and LuAnn (Jack) Grubman of Bryn Mawr, PA, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, their son Robert, her parents and siblings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Chapel-Bartels. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Chaplain Mike Blair presiding. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to either St. Croix Hospice or the Miriam and Buzz Levick Endowed Scholarship at Wartburg College.
