Paul Anthony Brase, 42, of Shell Rock, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Paul was born on Nov. 4, 1972, in Waverly, the son of Tony and Fern (Kruger) Brase. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly in 1972. He attended grade school at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Waverly, Waverly-Shell Rock Community Schools thru 10th grade and then his junior and senior years at Tripoli High School, graduating in 1991. On April 8, 1995, Paul was united in marriage to Rondalyn (Busching) Krull at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. During his life, Paul worked concrete construction for Norm Mulder, Mike (Telly) Tellinghuisen, and Pete Moeller. He worked at Iowa Laser in Cedar Falls, and on April 28, 2003, started working at John Deere in Waterloo as a CNC Machinist on the transmission and drivetrain gear line, where he cut transmission gears for the 7000, 8000, and 9000-series tractors.
Paul was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, United Auto Workers No. 838, Pheasants Forever, National Rifle Association and Shell Rock Sportsman's Club. Paul's greatest enjoyments were his family, friends, and riding his motorcycle, however, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, animals and working outdoors.
Paul's memory is honored by: his wife, Rondalyn Brase, of Shell Rock; three children, Jared Krull, of Burlington, Jordan (girlfriend Kara Bolte) Krull, of Shell Rock, and Haley Brase, of Shell Rock; his mother, Fern (step-father John Ylvisaker) Kruger, of Waverly; two brothers, Grant and Jeremiah Brase, both of Waverly; three step-brothers, Jon-marc, Jeremy, and Matthew Ylvisaker, all of Minnesota; mother-in-law, Darles Busching ,of Shell Rock; brother-in-law, Rick (Mary) Busching, of Oshkosh, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Robin Busching, of Shell Rock, and Roxanne (Mike) Clausing, of Maquoketa; several nieces and nephews; and three, four-legged kids: Bruke, Macy, and Molly. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Brase.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock where the family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock.
