Violet Emilia Schuldt

1930 - 2025

Violet Emilia Schuldt, 95, of Sumner, Iowa, and formerly of Tripoli, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.

Violet was born on August 1, 1930, the daughter of John and Louisa (Wolfgram) Tiedt on the Tiedt family farm east of Readlyn. She was baptized on August 24, 1930, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Readlyn by Rev. Conrad Meyer. She attended country school at Franklin #2, rural Readlyn. Violet was confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Readlyn by Rev. Erich Dornbusch.

Violet was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lorraine Schuldt on February 2, 1947, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Readlyn. The couple moved to the Schuldt Centennial family farm, and they farmed together, side by side for 40 years. They were blessed to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007 in Tripoli. Lorraine passed away on April 1, 2007.

Violet enjoyed the big family dinner gatherings and the Easter egg hunts that they did for the family for 70 years. She also enjoyed her birthday dinner on Tripoli Days in August as the parade passed by the house. Dinner was always ready right after the parade. She always welcomed visitors and always had homemade cookies on hand as a treat. Her biggest joy was the big growing family gatherings.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Judi (Mike) Tripolino of Denver; a son-in-law, Loren Sommerfelt of Sumner; and a daughter-in-law, Val Schuldt of Waverly; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Marrillee) Tiedt of Tripoli; a sister, Delores Joens of Cedar Falls; a brother, John (Sherry) Tiedt of Readlyn; and a sister-in-law, Karen Averhoff of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lorraine Schuldt, son, Larry Schuldt in 2008, daughter, Sharon Sommerfelt in 2025, grandson, John Hinderaker, great grandson, Dylan Sommerfelt, great-great grandson, River Cordova; her siblings and their spouses, Janetta (Wilhart) Schellhorn, Henry (Arlene and Winifred) Tiedt, Lavera (Arnold) Averhoff, and Melvin Joens; and special friend, Duane Schuldt.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Readlyn and continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Crane Creek, rural Tripoli with Pastor Jared McLey officiating. Burial will be held in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Crane Creek. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
