DANNIE "TORO" FIKES Dannie "Toro" Fikes, 78, of Waxahachie passed away March 3, 2023, in Ennis, Texas. He was born November 21, 1944, to Cecil and Claudine Fikes in Italy, Texas. Dannie is a lifelong believer who was baptized into the Baptist faith at an early age. He graduated from Italy High School in 1963, where he played football and baseball. Later, he discovered golf and loved it from the "git go". But, don't forget fishing. He went as often as he could, going to Brazil, Spain and taking his beloved brother Tom to Canada. He and his wife Gail owned and operated Sardis Tire and Wheel in Corsicana until they sold it. He was a member of the Waxahachie Country Club for years. He loved all his friends from there. In December 2022, he fell and broke his leg but never recovered. Gail loved him and took care of him. His last words to her were, "I've always loved you and you take care of yourself". He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail of 42 years; son Dane and Janella of Waxahachie who took care of Dan; and his son Lance of New York. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Bristol Hospice or the charity of your choice. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of The Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home with Grady Cashion officiating.
