Dean Watts Obituary

Dean Allen Watts

September 21, 1962 - November 12, 2024

Dean Allen Watts, 62, of Waterloo and formerly of Hudson, died unexpectedly in an automobile accident on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was born in Webster City on September 21, 1962, the son of LaVelle and Frances Myers Watts. Dean graduated from North Tama High School in 1981 and furthered his education at Kirkwood College and the University of Iowa. He worked as a general manager in the restaurant industry, mainly with Lonestar Steakhouse and Saloon and retired from TruStage. He married LeAnn Pearson on May 30, 1987, and the couple was blessed with three children.

Dean loved life and loved a good party. He had a boisterous voice that could carry and that brought comfort to those around him. He enjoyed cooking, was a caregiver to the bone, and loved to feed people. Dean loved his children deeply along with their partners and his grandchildren. He even stayed connected over the years with his many high school friends. Dean loved music, especially rock and roll and country, and enjoyed going to concerts. He was a fan of the Hawkeyes, Twins, Cubs, and Vikings. You can't remember Dean without realizing his love for Kinnick Stadium-perhaps his third home.

Dean is survived by his children: Jeric (Bridget) Watts and their daughter, Georgia of Cedar Falls, Kayla (Sara Shrout) Watts and their son, Gabe of Waterloo, and Austin Watts of Waterloo; and his siblings: Larry Watts of Johnston and Marcia (Glenn) Sagendorph of Westminster, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, LeAnn in 2017; his parents, and his fiancé,Tracy Viola in 2024.

No formal services are planned at this time, but a Celebration of Life will take place in Traer later. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.LockeFuneralServices.com.

To the kids, grandkids and family. I am so sorry to hear of the unexpected loss of your Dad. He was a cherished friend of mine although I haven´t talked to him since I left Iowa ten years ago. My heart is heavy today. Thinking of you guys from Florida.
