Dennis James Goodwin, of La Porte City, died on October 27, 2024. in the presence of family at Allen Hospital.
Dennis was born on May 7, 1951 to Jim and Violet Goodwin. He spent many of his formative years on the family acreage outside of La Porte City. Being the adventurous soul that he was, Dennis operated heavy machinery and also took pleasure in seeing the country during his time working as a semi truck driver. Throughout these years he loved taking advantage of all the experiences life had to offer and building life long friendships. In his later years, he loved spending quality time with his family, watching sports, and fishing.
Dennis is survived by his three sons: Juan "Johnny" (Bree) Goodwin of Tripoli, Victor Goodwin, and Brandon Goodwin, both of La Porte City, his grandson Luca, and siblings Karen (Paul) Stone of Ft. Myers, FL and Ron Goodwin of Waterloo.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Violet, and a niece, Katlyn Goodwin.
Dennis was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 10th at 1:00 p.m. at:
